Sinhgad College of Engineering is a very popular private technical education university situated in Vadgaon (Budruk), Pune, India. It was formed and started in the year 1996 with four undergraduate programs and had an intake of 240 students. This SCOE is affiliated to a university named as University of Pune.

The Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) manages the SCOE also known as Sinhgad College of engineering. The name of the college was derived from the Sinhgad fort. The National Board of Accreditation has accredited this institute and it is also recognized by AICTE. The SCOE has also been given A Grade by NAAC.

The institute offers eight undergraduate engineering programmes to the students for a period of four year duration. The branches include Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering and Bio-Technology as well. On the other hand, six engineering departments are being offered for post-graduate programs. Those departments or branches include Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, and Civil Engineering.

These departments are recognized by the Ph.D. Research Centre by University of Pune. The institute also offers the students a post-graduate program leading to a MBA degree. The total enrollment for under-graduate and post-graduate students include 1200 and 338 students respectively. There are a total of 126 students registered for Ph.D. with this research center. All the courses mentioned above are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to the University of Pune.

• This university has also been selected by the MHRD, Government of India for TEQIP-II project implementation.
• The university also gained a Membership of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

The college is fully dedicated in making good quality engineers with excellent technical knowledge of his/ her branch. On the other side it also creates some good human beings who can create a niche for themselves in the world.

Many other doctoral programs are also being offered by this institute and the respective departments where it is offered include include Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The campus houses as many as 50 different prime buildings in it.

There is a central library present in the institute which has some large study halls with 4 floors and it also has a rooftop café which is situated on the highest floor of the library. The institute also has Wi-Fi facility with excellent signals across the campus and an ampthit theatre. Also in case of sports, it has a football and a cricket ground along with a basketball court.

There are hostel facilities available for the students. The students are given the hostels on the basis of their year and the department or subject of study. There is separate mess facility available for every hostel present and they also have canteens so that the students can purchase and have food of their choice. Other facilities available in the institute include, 24 hours security, campus clinic for emergency, shops for basic needs and stationary. The bus and train booking facility is also available along with banks and ATMs. It also has recreational facilities like sports, cultural programs.

Among all the students taking admission in this institute, 65% of students are admitted on the basis of marks scored on the Entrance exam of Maharashtra Engineering and 15% of the students from outside Maharashtra state by direct admission or admission through management quota. There is also an Institute level all candidate seats which is about 20% of the total intake.

Process for Admission to Sinhgad College for Engineering:

All candidates need to mention the Admission test taken with their name and the address of the Test Agency and also the URL of their website. The candidates can also show the score for the entrance examination MHT-CET conducted by Gov. of Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell & JEE-Main conducted by the CBSE also known as Central-Board for Secondary Education situated in New-Delhi. The schedule for admission against the vacant seats will be provided on the website. The DTE MS informs about the admission schedule for the CAP also known as Centralized Admission Process.

After this process, the vacant seats are filled up. During these processes, the students need to contact the office soon after the entrance results like MHT – CET, HSC and JEE results are declared. They also need to submit the online applications for the Central Admission Process against the available seats.

One of the popular engineering branches started by this institute is Engineering Sciences. This department was started to support the core engineering programs with fundamental knowledge and skills in Mathematics and Basic Sciences. Department of Engineering Sciences consists of four departments namely Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry and Electrical Engineering.

These departments are part of engineering undergraduate courses and started functioning on the academic year 1996-97.This branch is also considered as the stepping stone for all budding engineers. It provides a strong foundation for the various engineering branches by providing all the fundamental knowledge in sciences and awareness of the basic technical skills. This branch comprises of comprises of various disciplines like Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics Engineering Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer and IT Engineering.
